About Kathy

Kathy Fears has a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota and has completed extensive graduate level coursework in Orton-Gillingham instruction. Kathy currently has a private practice as a Reading Therapist, Workshop Presenter, and Independent Peabody Tester. She has successfully helped dozens of children, teens and adults overcome their reading and spelling struggles using the Orton-Gillingham method and she conducts workshops to show how to use Orton-Gillingham techniques to teach struggling readers and spellers. She also administers the Peabody test to homeschoolers to help them meet the state testing requirements. Kathy is the current president and a founding member of Orton-Gillingham of Minnesota (OGM), an organization that provides teacher training in this powerful method of instruction. She has also participated as an instructor during the OGM teacher training sessions in the summer and fall. And she is a past board member of the International Dyslexia Association Upper Midwest Branch (IDA-UMB).
